Marijn S is a female DJ and producer based in Amsterdam. As a student at conservatory Haarlem, Radio TNP affiliate and host, as well as one of the faces behind independent record label and podcast Kulture Lab, she’s expanding her love and passion for music simultaneously. Her DJ sets are all about merging sounds; from slow burners to fast paced experimental oddities, creating special moments that are momentary, yet memorable.

Conundrum EP
Conundrum EP, a self-constructed puzzle, bringing together various conceptual elements. Going from detailed drum programming to live recorded synth-arp ambiences, Marijn S showcases the many colors of her being and spirit translated into sound. Breakbeat, percussions, strength and focus but with some personal outlandish choices on the A side, followed by flowy-ness and playfulness, choices of musical elements lead by emotion on the B side.

A1 - Arctic Flora
Marijn S draws inspiration from 90’s breakbeat and transforms it into her own palette of programmed, layered drums and percussions, crawling on top of a deep repetitive bass, while icy melodies appear and disappear momentarily. Arctic Flora is a rhythmic journey that makes your brain transcend into the core of the Antarctic, where the flora maintain their strength and resistance, yet dance with the movement of the wind.

A2 - Cuckoo and Azaleas
Bass, breaks and trance influenced Cuckoo and Azaleas: a pursuit in serenity and composure, while at the same time exposing energy and power, leaving it a synthetic fusion of late night floor melting material and a waking dream listening experience.

B1 – Hazy Moon
Exploring some of the more subtle and sophisticated elements in Hazy Moon. Inspired by 90’s ambient and IDM, Marijn S creates an ever-evolving synth-arp that unravels itself simultaneously, moving along with the floating pads. Crystal clear moments fade into a hazy realm of wonder, with a dance of flickering light.

B2 – Uh-Oh
The synth-arp from Hazy Moon shows itself again, this time more energetic and lively. Uh-Oh is a playful piece of Marijn S, including her own vocals that uniquely take their place, together with the crunchy breakbeats, flourishing pads, pulsing drum delays, and a bulked out bassline, leaving a pure and mesmerized energy on the dancefloor, as well as in more cozy listening space.
